Our Site
The Boathouse
Our base of operations is located at a beautiful site on the shore of the Madawaska River in Palmer Rapids, Ontario, just down stream of the second set of Palmer Rapids. The boathouse features woodland and riverside campsites amid majestic pines and a strong sense of community.
On site we have warm running water for washing up located behing the office and classy new outhouses. You can join other campers at the communal campfire pit down by the beach or use our BBQ located behind the office (a donation towards propane is welcome). We continue to update our indoor classroom and communal Paddlers Lounge, making our site an ideal teaching and learning environment. In case of an emergency, such as a thunderstorm, the Paddler's Lounge is available for immediate shelter from the storm.
Camping
Most participants on our courses choose to camp. However, if camping if not your thing, then we are able to highly recommend B & B’s, lodges, and motels in the area.Camping at our site works on a first-come, first-served basis and is available to all members throughout the season (May through October). No formal booking is required. The only weekend we are booked up is during Palmer Festival (May long weekend). You are more than welcome to pitch a tent anywhere on our two acres of land.
Keep in mind that weather or not you’re taking a course with us, you are welcome to camp at our site. All camping gear and food are up to you for the duration of your stay with us.
The cost is $8/night/person. We adjust the cost for large groups- just give us a call and let us know you’re coming. We also offer a family rate of $20/night/family.
