River Safety and Rescue [RSR]

This nationally recognised certification has been developed by paddlers and instructors across Canada and is highly relevant to kayakers and canoeists. RSR is a two-day program that introduces course participants to safety and rescue theories, procedures and techniques that are effective in contributing to safe and enjoyable river travel.

We address common rescue scenarios and emphasize effective ways to avoid getting into difficult or dangerous situations. The program centres around learning and practising skills and techniques in self rescue, shore based throwline rescues, boat based rescues, entrapments, boat pins and simple mechanical advantage systems for ropes. We use equipment that is easily carried by all paddlers and maintain the important perspective of personal and group safety at all times.

Paddling is fun!, lets keep it that way—get trained—paddle safe.
